Le Mangiatoie:
the room
that remembers.
Four original stone mangers. The iron rings for tying livestock still in place. The most distinctive room of the masseria — and the one guests ask for first.
A trullo suite with original stone mangers, where the masseria's animals once slept before restoration. The iron rings that once tethered them are still here, untouched. Today an en-suite bedroom for two, in the heart of the restored trullo at Trulli d'Amore in Monopoli.
The name
Trullo suite with original mangers: stones that speak for themselves
When we started the restoration, the four stone mangers were there — covered in lime, dark, forgotten. Below, the iron rings used to tie the animals. Above, the classic lamia ceiling of the trullo, still intact.
There was nothing to invent. The name was already written on the walls. We just cleaned them, one stone at a time, leaving them exactly as they were. They stayed there, part of the room, like a small silent museum of those who lived here before us.
Every guest, sooner or later, touches them with their hand. It is an instinctive gesture. The mangers carry within them 200 years of rural Puglia, and you can feel it.
The space
Classic lamia.
A basin in raw stone.
A 160x200 double bed under the white lamia ceiling. The space is intimate but it breathes. The room has direct access from the entrance courtyard — you choose when to come in and when to go out, without crossing any other common space.
The view is over the adjacent olive grove: at dawn, no roads, no neighbours, only the silver leaves of the olive trees moving in the wind. Morning light enters at an angle, warm.
The en-suite bathroom has a walk-in shower with geometric cement tiles. The washbasin is carved from a single piece of raw stone. Fittings are in aged brass — the same brass found in rural Apulian houses a hundred years ago.
One note: the room is interconnected with Il Granaio through a door that locks. Designed for those travelling with teenage children, or for two couples of friends who want to stay connected but independent.

Who it's for
For those who want
a room with a story.
Le Mangiatoie is for couples who are looking for something more than a comfortable bed. For those who choose a trullo because it is a trullo, not because it is an alternative to a hotel. For those who, on waking, do not want to see a screen but a stone that is more than 200 years old.
It is also the room that works best for those who want the privacy of an independent entrance — useful if you come back late after dinner, or leave early in the morning. The door opens directly onto the entrance courtyard.
It is not the largest room. It is not the one with the TV. It is the one guests remember most.
