Many holiday homes have a kitchen. Few have one that is genuinely used. Trulli d'Amore has one designed for cooking for ten people without stress — and a wood-fired oven that has become the moment guests remember most.
Morning: Monopoli market
Monopoli market runs every Wednesday and Saturday morning. Local fruit and vegetable producers, fishmongers, butchers, farmhouse cheeses. Not a tourist market — the one where locals shop. Forty minutes of shopping is enough for a six-course dinner.
The equipped kitchen
The kitchen at Trulli d'Amore is not decorative. Professional 6-burner hob, gas oven, American fridge, dishwasher, every utensil needed. The central solid wood table is designed for ten people — a functional choice, not an aesthetic one.
The wood-fired oven — the collective ritual
Light the fire. Wait for the temperature to rise. Wait for it to fall to the right level. Then bake. Everything that is automatic in an electric oven here requires attention, conversation, presence.
The wood-fired oven is not a service. It is a collective ritual. Lighting it requires time. Waiting for it requires conversation.
What you cook
Orecchiette: Puglia's signature pasta. Hard wheat flour and water, nothing else. Learnable in thirty minutes. Classic sauce: turnip tops sautéed with garlic and anchovies.
Focaccia: high, soft, with olives or cherry tomatoes. The wood-fired oven makes it different from anything made at home.
Meat from the oven: lamb, pork ribs, bombette inspired by Cisternino. The wood-fired oven gives a crust and aroma impossible to achieve otherwise.
When you want a private chef
On request, a private Puglian chef dinner can be arranged. The chef brings ingredients, cooks in the Trulli d'Amore kitchen, serves at table — or cooks alongside guests if preferred.
Equipped kitchen, wood-fired oven, table for ten. Private chef on request. The kitchen is part of the stay, not an extra service.
